MISSION | To Develop a Technology Pipeline Program for Urban Youth from Kindergarten-to-College-to-Career Entry!

TechCORE2 (Computers + Opportunities + Resources = Employment x Entreprenuership) is continuing is growth as a leading S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program in Philadelphia. TechCORE2.org became a 501(c) Nonprofit Corporation in May 2018. Additionally, TC2 is now a 100 Black Men of Philadelphia Affiliated Program (www.100BlackMenPhilly.org). 

Due to the enrollment growth in the Spring 2018 Saturday program, we have moved the Fall 2018 program to the Rudolphy/Mercy-Douglass Home for the Blind (www.mercydouglass.org) located in University City / West Philadelphia, 3827 Powelton Avenue Philadelphia, PA  19104-5100.  

This fall programs has grown to larger class sizes up to 20 youth, a slection of over (9) different classes. We've added an App Development class and Python Coding levels I and II. And yes, Hip Hop and STEM is back!  Additionally we teamed up with EMSCO Scientific to provided much needed financial assistance to provide opportunities to our high school young men in the form of (4) scholarships to the Fall 2018 program (Learn More). 

CODING WORKSHOPS (Most Classes, No Experience Necessary)

  • A) Parent & Me: Intro SCRATCH Coding** (for students grades K - 2nd) 
  • B) Young Coders: Intro SCRATCH Coding (grades 3rd to 5th) 
  • C) Mid Level Coders: Intro to SCRATCH Coding (grades 6th to 8th) 
  • D) SCRATCH Gaming Coding w/ Robotics (grades 1st to 8th)
  • E) Introduction to Python Coding (grades 7th to 12th) 
  • F) Google App Development (grades 7th to 12th) 
  • G) Python II Coding (grades 7th to 12th) 
  • H) Hip Hop & STEM Music Production (grades 7th to 12th) 
  • I) Google App Development (grades 7th to 12th)

Be sure to check out our News blog (New.techcore2.org) often for schoilarships, opportunities and success stories. Six of our past instructors have graduated from college this past Spring 2018, and they all have a great story to share. We had our first TC2 H.S. graduate to receive a 100 Black Men $4,000 Scholarship and is now at Lincoln University pursuing Forensic Nursing. Jordan Melvin participated in our Summer 2016 PAID H.S. Internship program. 

Our standard recurring programs include: 

  • Fall & Spring Saturday Coding Programs (60 - 100 children served)
  • H.S. PAID Summer Internship Training Program (60 - 100 children served)
  • H.S. PAID Summer internship  (8 - 15 students)
  • Summer Coding Instruction @ Camps, Schools & Community Programs (80 - 150) children served)
  • STEM Coding Parties launched pilot event May 2017
